Lala Tulsi Ram Chauhan’s life a symbol of sacrifice, service, says HPSC chairman

A historic literary and social event took place in Nohradhar, where renowned writer Pawan Bakshi unveiled the biography of Lala Tulsi Ram Chauhan in a grand ceremony. The event was presided over by Captain Rameshwar Thakur, Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.

In his address, Captain Rameshwar Thakur lauded Lala Tulsi Ram Chauhan’s immense contributions to society, honouring him with the title “Yugpurush” (Man of the Era). He described Chauhan’s life as a symbol of sacrifice, service and dedication, inspiring future generations.

The occasion was graced by several distinguished personalities from Himachal Pradesh and Sirmaur district, including Solan Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma and his wife Richa Sharma; writer and litterateur Pawan Bakshi; social activist Rajendra Tiwari, Sangrah SDM Sunil Kaith and his wife; Solan Tehsildar Rajiv Ranta, and Nohradhar Tehsildar Vinod Kumar; social activists Jaiprakash Chauhan, Shakuntala Chauhan, Rambhaj Chauhan, Kundan Shastri and Hari Ram Shastri.

On this special occasion, Jogendra Chauhan, son of Lala Tulsi Ram Chauhan, along with his wife Mamta Chauhan, extended a warm welcome to all the guests. His elder son Brijmohan Chauhan, along with Tapendra Chauhan, Jitendra Chauhan, Rekha Chauhan (daughters-in-law), and grandchildren, were present to witness this emotional moment.

Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma reminisced about his first meeting with Lala Tulsi Ram Chauhan, emphasising how deeply Chauhan’s principles and dedication to society influenced him.

At 93 years old, Lala Tulsi Ram Chauhan became visibly emotional while receiving the honour. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest, Captain Rameshwar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma, writer Pawan Bakshi, and sponsor Rajendra Tiwari, as well as all the dignitaries present.

Lala Tulsi Ram Chauhan was a close associate of Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar, the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, and played a pivotal role in the renovation of the sacred Churdhar Temple, ensuring better facilities for devotees. His contributions extended to numerous social welfare projects in Sirmaur district.

He also shared close family ties with the late six-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Virbhadra Singh, a relationship that continues to be cherished by both families.

The event concluded on an emotional yet celebratory note, as the audience extended their best wishes for Lala Tulsi Ram Chauhan’s long and healthy life. This grand ceremony was not only a tribute to his legacy in literature and social service but also an inspiration for future generations.
