In a remarkable step towards enhancing the quality of education and empowering students, Kaffota Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rajesh Verma has adopted Government Excellence Senior Secondary School, Jamna, under the School Adoption Scheme. This initiative aims to improve the academic environment, provide career guidance and equip students with essential life skills.
The adoption programme will bridge the gap between administration and education, ensuring that students not only receive classroom knowledge but also gain practical insights and mentorship to prepare them for their future. Under this initiative, SDM Verma will visit the school regularly to interact with students, address their academic concerns and inspire them to pursue higher education and skill development.
Beyond academics, the initiative focuses on career counselling, psychological support and awareness programmes on crucial social issues. The SDM will conduct interactive sessions on substance abuse prevention, women’s empowerment, legal awareness and administrative knowledge, ensuring that students make informed decisions about their education and career paths.
A key component of the initiative is exam preparedness and stress management. Many students, particularly from rural backgrounds, face anxiety and pressure during examinations. By introducing guidance sessions and motivational talks, the scheme aims to instill confidence and resilience in students, helping them overcome academic challenges effectively.
In a generous effort to enhance learning opportunities, SDM Rajesh Verma donated books worth Rs 10,000 to the school. These books, covering a wide range of subjects, will be freely available to students, enriching their knowledge and broadening their perspectives. This contribution is expected to benefit students preparing for competitive exams and higher studies.
Speaking on the occasion, Acting Principal Ramesh Chauhan lauded the initiative, emphasising that regular interaction with administrative officials will help students connect their education with real-world applications. “This step will not only improve academic outcomes but also inspire students to dream big and work towards achieving their goals,” he said.
The School Adoption Scheme encourages greater community involvement in education, promoting a sense of collective responsibility. By involving administrative leaders in school activities, the programme aims to strengthen the education system at the grassroots level. This will also encourage parents and local communities to take an active role in their children’s education, ultimately fostering a culture of learning and development.
A significant focus of the initiative is addressing substance abuse issues among youth, a growing concern in many parts of Himachal Pradesh. Through structured awareness programmes, students will be educated on the dangers of drug addiction, peer pressure management and legal consequences related to substance abuse. Experts will provide valuable insights, empowering students to make informed and responsible choices.
The adoption of Government Excellence Senior Secondary School, Jamna, sets a progressive example for other schools in the region. If successfully implemented, this initiative could be replicated in other schools, creating a strong network of educational institutions that receive direct mentorship and support from administrative and community leaders.
With such initiatives, the education sector in rural Himachal Pradesh is poised for significant improvements, ensuring that students receive the necessary guidance and resources to build a bright and successful future.
